HNC Engineering Mechanical

Course Content

This course is suitable for learners who wish to develop their skills and knowledge to progress their career within a range of engineering sectors including: aviation; defence; medical engineering; engineering management; manufacturing; and the automotive industry. Subjects covered include: Maths; Communications; Dynamics; Thermofluids; Computer Aided Draughting and Materials.

Entry Requirements

Progressing students: applications will be based on previous course outcomes and personal statement.

 

New Applicants: Qualifications required are two Highers (or equivalent) at Grade C or above preferably English Mathematics or Physics, relevant SCQF Level 6 NC/NQ course in an engineering discipline, Foundation Apprenticeship in Engineering. Qualifications equivalent to the above from an international educational body.

 

Applicants who do not meet the criteria but have relevant work/industry experience will be required to complete an Engineering aptitude test on campus.

 

Method of Assessment

Submission of written reports, ongoing course assessment and a graded unit project.

Future Prospects

Progression onto a higher-level engineering specific course and/or employment opportunities in the engineering/renewable/energy industries with the opportunity to study part-time up to degree level.
